LONG BEACH-Long Beach City College campus has officially started the ASL Club. The club has not had its first meeting yet, but it has already found its president, vice president, treasurer and club representatives.

What makes the ASL club unique, as stated by club sponsor Deborah Hamm, professor at LBCC and the California State University of Long Beach is that “the students have organized it on their own, they are creating a space and a group to sign with and learn more about ASL and Deaf culture.”

The president of the club, student Lucero Torres informed Canyon News that the first event the ASL Club participated in was the Ronald McDonald Walk in Long Beach which was held on April 6. The ASL club is expected to have their first official meeting on Monday, April the 7. The club is open to all students who are interested.
