HOLLYWOOD—This week’s leading ladies gold standard goes to the two most famous dueling divas of daytime television. Ms. Susan Flannery, who stars as Queen Stephanie Forrester and Katherine Kelly Lang, who stars as her daughter-in-law Brooke Logan. Stephanie and Brooke have been archenemies for almost three decades. The hatred between the two ladies is palpable on-screen. Stephanie despises Brooke for being so sexually uninhibited and Brooke hates her mother-in-law for meddling in her private life all of these years, and for trying to turn her daughter Hope against her as well. This week the battle that has become synonymous with “The Bold and the Beautiful” took a sharp turn dramatically leaving Stephanie injured yet again.
On Tuesday, Brooke Logan opened the door to find her, mudbug mother-in-law Stephanie, standing there with disapproving eyes. This is nothing new for the sexiest woman in the world, who always expects Stephanie to be judgmental and unforgiving for any mistakes Brooke has made in the past. The most recent one was to accidentally have sex with her teenage daughter’s boyfriend at her daughter’s graduation party. The reason for the snafu? Brooke and all of the kids, including her daughter’s boyfriend Oliver, were all wearing masks at the soiree. Never mind that no mother should be having sex with her husband or anyone else while chaperoning a high school graduation party for dozens of teenagers.
After a testy discussion on Tuesday, Hope walked in and made the unbelievable suggestion to her mother, Brooke and to Stephanie that they bury the hatchet and work together as a team in the future. When Hope left the ladies in the living room, then walked up the stairs, Stephanie whispered to Brooke, “No way!”
Two days later on Thursday, another surprise and unwelcome visit from Stephanie to Brooke got a bit heated, and by the end of the episode, Stephanie was facing another trip in an ambulance, to UCLA Medical Center and claiming injury again. This time, daughter-in-law Brooke went right behind her. On Friday, Brooke was accusing her nemesis of faking her injuries. There is precedent for such an accusation. Just five years ago, Stephanie faked a heart attack in order to cause a rift between Brooke and her husband Ridge, who is Stephanie’s eldest and most favored child.
