PHILADELPHIA, PA– After weeks of speculation and rumors abound the NBA, LeBron James is taking his talents to the Philadelphia 76ers. James 41, is signing a two-year, $8 million contract with a player option, Klutch Sports Group CEO Rich Paul told media outlets.
This move returns James to the Eastern Conference, vastly improving his chances to win a fifth NBA Title. The LeBron sweepstakes has always been a cat and mouse game, one which he clearly loves.
As i’ve written before, I am a certified Lebronoligist. He dropped an easter egg last week, by mentioning the word process in an interview.
The word process, mmmmm?
Trust the process is the mantra of the Philadelphia 76ers. That was a sign that the king would be chowing down Philly chessesteaks, and visiting the Liberty Bell.
“I was honest at that last press conference when I said I needed to look at myself and deicide if I still love this game,” he wrote.
After deciding “I still truly love this game, and I have more to give,” James chose the 76ers, committing to a fourth NBA team as he searches for a fifth NBA championship before retirement.
James will hope to break a 43-year championship drought for the 76ers, much the same way he erased a 52-year streak without a title for the city of Cleveland when he won a championship with the Cavaliers in 2016.
Just look at the talent on the Philadelphia 76ers. Watch out New York Knicks and the Boston Celtics.
“I believe I can help make the Philadelphia 76ers a championship team and I am so excited to energize a new fan base and start this incredible journey one last time.”
Meanwhile, a trio of Sixers players — Tyrese Maxey, Joel Embiid and the newly acquired Jaylen Brown, another surprising addition for Philadelphia this offseason — worked on James.
The Sixers went 45-37 last season and lost to the eventual champion New York Knicks 4-0 in the second round of the playoffs. It has been more than four decades since the 76ers last won the title (1983), and they have only two other conference finals appearances and one NBA Finals appearance in that span.
