CARMEL-BY-THE-SEA—On May 31, legendary actor, director, producer, singer, and composer Clint Eastwood turned 96 years old. Before his birthday, Eastwood’s son, Kyle, confirmed in an interview with the French media outlet, France Info, that his father is indeed retired.

“I have many fond memories of working with him. Now he’s retired, he’s 95 years old. I was very lucky to be able to work with him on quite a few films. It was a great experience for me.”

The elder Eastwood appeared in more than sixty films in a career that lasted over seven decades. 1959-1065, Clint Eastwood was appearing in the television series Rawhide. He made his acting debut there and in some uncredited films, A Man with No Name, and The Good, the Bad and the Ugly.

In 1971, he began directing. He played the San Francisco Police Inspector, Harry Callahan, in the hit film Dirty Harry. After Harry Callahan, his fans fell in love with his next character, Josie Wales, in The Outlaw Josie Wales. By that time, Clint Eastwood was a well-known actor and director in Hollywood. His fans were quoted their favorite lines from his latest films.

Any Which Way But Loose was his highest-grossing film. Its popularity paved the way to the sequel, Any Which Way You Can. The award-winning actor’s roles were unique in character, in a way that only Clint Eastwood could act, whether it be in Escape from Alcatraz or in Gran Torino.
