HOLLYWOOD HILLS—LL Cool J will be honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame on Thursday, January 21, the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce announced.
He will be honored with the 2,571st star on the Walk of Fame in the category of Recording. The 11:30 a.m dedication is set to take place at 6901 Hollywood Boulevard in front of Hollywood’s Hard Rock Cafe.
Hollywood Chamber President/CEO Leron Gubler will help emcee the event with guest speakers Queen Latifah and Sean “Diddy” Combs.
“LL COOL J is one of the most popular recording artists. He has a huge following and we are proud to honor him on the Walk of Fame,” stated Ana Martinez, Producer of the Walk of Fame ceremonies.
First introduced in 1984 as a Def Jam Records flagship artist, LL CooL J became the first rap artist to garner 10 consecutive platinum-plus-selling albums. He successfully transitioned to acting as a star in movies like “Deep Blue Sea,” “In To Deep,” and “Any Given Sunday.” He currently stars in the CBS primetime drama “NCIS: Los Angeles.” His performance has earned him a NAACP Award four years in a row for his role as Special Agent Sam Hanna.
He has hosted the Grammy Awards for the past four consecutive years, and has participated in over 10 Grammy shows, tributes, and specials, and served as a producer for “The GRAMMY Nominations Concert Live!! — Countdown To Music’s Biggest Night” and “A Very GRAMMY Christmas.”
LL Cool J is currently producing and hosting the new hit show “Lip Sync Battle” on Spike TV, which returned for season two on January 7. The Jimmy Fallon-executive produced show kicked off its premiere season in April 2015 as Spike TV’s most-watched original program ever.
He is known for his philanthropic work involving literacy for kids and supporting music and arts programs in schools. His charity “Jump & Ball,” gives back to his hometown community of Queens, New York by offering a five-week athletic and team building program that takes place every August and is dedicated to bringing fun to children. This year will mark his charity’s 12th Anniversary.
