LOS ANGELES—Wisconsin native, Gavin Lux, 21, made his MLB debut for the Los Angeles Dodgers on Monday, September 2.

The Dodgers Instagram account posted a video of Lux celebrating his first Major League hit with a caption that read:

“When you’ve waited 21 years, there’s no time to waste. Welcome to The Show, @therealgavinlux!”

The hype for the young Shortstop, as seen all across the Dodgers social media, resulted in a victory for the Dodgers with Lux hitting a line drive single to center during his first at bat. The rookie scored three runs in his Major League Baseball debut and helped the team defeat the Colorado Rockies with a final score of 16-9.

Lux was selected in the first round of the MLB draft by the Dodgers in 2016. He was promoted to the AAA Oklahoma City Dodgers, a minor league affiliate of the Los Angeles Dodgers, on June 27. Along with starting at second base for his debut, Lux was designated to lead off in the following game of the series against the Rockies.
