MELROSE—On April 26, artist Mark Paul Deren, better known as MADSTEEZ, dressed up Melrose with a new mural. MADSTEEZ announced on Instagram three weeks ago that he would be painting a mural on Melrose and Fairfax.

According to his website, MADSTEEZ “is known for his vivid, large-scale, multi-layered paintings, where strange and familiar figures are integrated into abstract landscapes. He has held solo exhibitions in New York City,

Los Angeles, and Tokyo as well as group showings in London, Germany, Seattle, Portland, Vancouver, Calgary and Art Basel, Miami.”

The Hundreds, “the world’s first social merchandising company,” revealed that they were collaborating with MADSTEEDZ on the futuristic space themed mural to fill up a “sacrilege empty wall” that happened to be withing The Hundred’s area, according to their website.
