MALIBU—On Friday, August 30, a brush fire occurred in Malibu near Pacific Coast Highway and Sweetwater Canyon Road. 

The brush fire occurred around 11:30 a.m. The fire grew within the hour and traveled uphill. There were no structures threatened during the blaze.

Around 1 p.m., the Los Angeles County Fire Department tweeted, there were 10 acres burning including air tankers and four helicopters on the scene. Around 2 p.m. there was 40 acres burning with 60 percent containment. The Los Angeles County Sheriff Department arrived on the scene around 1 p.m. 

#SweetwaterFire Firefighters continue the difficult work of shoring up and reinforcing containment lines in steep terrain. Cause investigators on scene. Mop operations will continue into the evening and @LACOFD personnel will remain on the scene throughout the night on fire watch” tweeted the Los Angeles County Fire Department.
