MALIBU—The City of Malibu released a statement reminding all residents to recycle all Christmas trees as part of green waste recovery efforts sponsored by the Los Angeles County.

The Christmas tree recycling program is available from December 27, 2010, to January 15, 2011.  Trees may be cut and fitted inside a designated green waste bin or dropped off at the following two locations:

1)    23136 PCH (near Heathercliff Road)

2)    23401 Civic Center Way (Papa Jack’s Skate Park)

Residents need to remember to remove water containers, metal stands, ornaments, tinsel and lights before discarding the trees. Although flocked and fire retardant-treated trees have not been accepted in the past, they will be accepted this year for recycling. Those who are interested in curbside collection service may have their trees picked up by their local hauler. A small service charge may apply.
