TOPANGA CANYON—The suspect responsible for the kidnapping and rape of a woman outside the Westfield Topanga Mall in 2013 has been sentenced to 84 years to life in prison. According to a press release from the Los Angeles District Attorney’s Office, Kioki Ray Snowden, 19, of Lancaster was sentenced on August 12.

 

Snowden was convicted on July 2, 2014 of one count each of kidnapping, kidnapping to commit another crime, second-degree robbery, forcible rape, sexual penetration by foreign object, forcible oral copulation and identity theft. He kidnapped a woman by knifepoint in the parking lot of the Westfield Topanga Mall on July 4, 2013 at around 5:30 p.m.   

 

He took the victim to a bank parking lot in San Marino where he sexually assaulted and robbed her. The victim was held captive by the suspect for more than three hours, where he had her drive to multiple locations in the San Fernando Valley, Pasadena and downtownLos Angeles. Snowden’s bail was set at $9.045 million at the time he first appeared in court on July 15, 2013.

 

A jury found true allegations of the use of a knife, kidnapping and tying and binding during the time of the crime. The suspect is scheduled for a restitution hearing on October 21 in Department F of the Los Angeles County Superior Court, Van Nuys Branch.
