MALIBU—An adult male lost control of his vehicle on Malibu Canyon Road on Saturday, April 2 nearly plummeting off the road into the canyon, according to a Facebook post from the Lost Hills Sheriff’s Station. The driver was disoriented as he escaped the teetering vehicle. He exited his car and was struck by a passing tour bus.

The Lost Hills Sheriff’s Station said on their post, “This is another reminder of the need to drive safely through the canyons of our beautiful area and to use extreme caution at the scene of a traffic collision.”

According to the post, the Lost Hills Sheriff’s Station responded to a vehicle accident on Malibu Canyon Road around 4:30 p.m. The driver was conscious and breathing upon the arrival of the responders. He was found half a mile south of the tunnel, and was treated by the Los Angeles County Fire Department and the California Highway Patrol.

The driver was transported to a local hospital to be treated for injuries sustained. The CHP is investigating the cause of the traffic accident. No further information has been released to the public regarding the name of the victim and the circumstances that caused the driver to lose control of his vehicle.
