HOLLYWOOD HILLS—A homeless man responsible for fatally stabbing a woman in 2013 for not giving him cash when she took a picture has pleaded no contest. Dustin James Kinnear, 27, pleaded no contest to voluntary manslaughter in court after a four-day trial on October 1.

Kinnear fatally stabbed Christine Calderon, 23, near the Hollywood & Highland Center on June 18, 2013, when she refused to provide him money for photos she and a friend had taken of the transients who were holding signs with obscenities written on them.

Two other assailants with Kinnear pinned the victim’s friend on the wall, while Kinnear stabbed Calderon. She was transported to a local hospital where she died a few hours later.

Joseph Joel Wolstone, 34, pleaded no contest to one count of assault by means likely to produce great bodily harm and was sentenced in April 2014 to two years in a state prison.

Brian Joseph Widdows, 35, pled no contest to being an accessory to the crime and also received a two-year prison term.

The suspect is expected back in court on Friday, October 10 where he is expected to be sentenced to 12 years in state prison.
