LOS FELIZ—Artyom Manukyan, 29, was sentenced to 16 months in jail for vandalizing the Hollywood Sikh Temple on Vermont Avenue in August 2017, the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office announced on Monday, September 16.

According to court documents, Manukyan was charged with vandalism and a hate crime enhancement after he pled guilty to vandalizing the building.

The crime was captured on camera by a witness after the defendant was seen writing a offensive message on the wall of the religious temple before walking away. “Nuke death … Sikhs,” read some of the content written via social media.

The Los Angeles Police Department indicated the suspect was previously charged with another crime of suspicion of burglary, grand theft auto and making criminal threats.

The case is currently under investigation by the LAPD.
