WOODLAND HILLS—The two people responsible for breaking into the home of singer/actress Miley Cyrus have been sentenced to prison. TMZ.com reported that Tylor Scott, 19 and Naomi Charles, 21 were sentenced in court on Monday, September 22.

Scott pleaded guilty to one count of felony residential burglary and one count to grand theft auto. Scott will spend five years in a state prison for his crimes. His girlfriend, Charles who is believed to be the mastermind in the crime, pleaded guilty to one count of felony residential burglary and will spend 1 year in a county jail.

The suspects stole Cyrus’ 2014 Maserati from her home back in June 2014. They were also involved in multiple burglaries and thefts according to the Los Angeles District Attorney’s Office. TMZ noted in legal documents they obtained that the duo were inspired by the 2013 film “The Bling Ring” by Sofia Coppola, which chronicled a group of teens that broke into the homes of A-list celebrities that included Paris Hilton and many others.

Canyon News spoke with Ricardo Santiago, Public Information Officer for the Los Angeles District Attorney’s Office via email. Santiago indicated that at the time of the break-in at Cyrus’ home no one was at the residence. He added that no one was at the residence of the home that Scott broke into in Woodland Hills either. Scott was charged with one additional count each of first degree residential burglary and grand theft firearm.

On May 15, he broke into a Woodland Hills home and stole a 9mm Luger handgun, prosecutors indicated. When asked by Canyon News regarding the location of the residence in Woodland Hills, Mr. Santiago was not able to divulge any information about the residence.

In addition, to stealing Cyrus’ vehicle, the suspects stole jewelry, purses and clothes worth thousands of dollars from the home. Scott is originally fromArizona, and just moved to Los Angeles in March 2014 as stated on his Facebook page. In Maricopa County, Scott was arrested on suspicion of burglary, and had an outstanding warrant for his arrest for failure to appear in court.
