HOLLYWOOD—Well moviegoers hit the multiplex in massive numbers during the extended Thanksgiving holiday weekend. Coming out on top was the Disney animated flick “Moana” starring the voice of Dwayne ‘The Rock’ to the tune of $81 million. Yep, that is quite the impressive haul for an animated flick during the holiday season people. The movie is just mere millions from hitting the $100 million mark at the global box-office.

Last week’s box-office champ “Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them” dropped to second place earning $65.8 million during the five-day weekend. On a global scale, the flick is edging much closer to the $500 million mark, which I’m certain will transpire in the next week or so. Nabbing third place was the superhero flick “Doctor Strange” that added another $18.9 million to its domestic total. In less than a month, the surprise hit (in my opinion) has grossed over $600 million globally.

Landing in fourth place was the Brad Pitt and Marion Cotillard thriller “Allied” with $18 million. Not bad for a flick that has had minimal publicity in my personal opinion. Rounding out the top five was the drama “Arrival” with $15.6 million. There are no major flicks hitting theaters this coming weekend so expect “Moana” to remain on top for a second weekend.
