SAN FRANCISCO─A case of the coronavirus infected a resident of San Francisco, who traveled to Wuhan, China, and Shanghai before returning home on January 24. He tested positive for the virus, on Friday, January 31. The virus produces symptoms like the pneumonia. Cases of the coronavirus have been diagnosed in California, Washington, Arizona and Illinois.

The Center for Disease Control and Prevention confirmed that the resident of Santa Clara County was diagnosed with the virus that has infected people worldwide and killed over 300 people; a majority of the deaths have been confirmed in China. Almost 200 Americans were evacuated from Wuhan, China and are now at a military base on the outskirts of Los Angeles, under a 14-day quarantine.
