MALIBU—Heavy rainfall on Thursday, December 6 caused a mudslide to occur, shutting down sections of Pacific Coast Highway in Malibu. According to Caltrans, both the northbound and southbound lanes were closed from Busch Drive to the Los Angeles and Ventura County Line.

According to the city of Malibu, Bonsall Drive and Cuthbert Road were closed and Kanan Road and Morning View experienced mudslides as well. The neighborhood of Malibu Park was overcome with rain on Thursday, where crews worked to clear up and prevent more mudslides from transpiring because of the rainfall.

Mud flowed into one property and continued to flow until it conjoined with another mudslide on Harvester Road, which was located one street below the damaged property. A car that was located on PCH by Leo Carrillo State Beach was damaged by the mud and the driver had to be rescued from the car.

The National Weather Service issued a flash flood warning for areas in west Los Angeles County which were affected by the Woolsey Fire. The warning expired before 11:00 a.m.
