HOLLYWOOD—It’s been a long time in the making. Pop-rock group, the Jonas Brothers have ended speculation of their future, telling fans: “It’s over for now.” The band, which consists of brothers Nick, 21, Joe, 24 and Kevin, 25, have been together since 2005 and gained worldwide popularity when they appeared in the Disney film “ Camp Rock.”
The rumors have been flying for over a month when the band announced they were cancelling their tour because of a “deep rift” within the group. No one seems to know the real reason behind the rift. Fans even noticed that their official Twitter account had been deleted. The Jonas Brothers have sold more than 8 million albums worldwide and were nominated for Best New Artist at the 2008 Grammy Awards. Also in 2008, they won 14 Teen choice Awards and scooped the breakthrough prize at the American Music Awards. The Jonas Brothers’ third and fourth studio albums- “A Little Bit Longer” and “Lines, Vines and Trying Times”-both reached number one on the US Billboard chart and were Top 20 hits in England. Their 2007 track “SOS” was their most successful UK single, reaching number 13 in the charts.
Back in 2009, ” Britain’s Got Talent” star Susan Boyle, made jaws drop when she stepped onto the stage, amongst snickers, as she expressed her desire for wanting to have a professional singing career. Looks of complete disdain were seen on the judges and audience and she began belting out, “I Dreamed a Dream,” from “Les Miserables.” Simon Cowell, questioned her about her dream, and was anything but kind, especially when she stated she wanted to be as successful as Elaine Page. Simon and a few other people rolled his eyes, it was clear that the audience expected Susan to fail. As soon as she opened her mouth to sing, the world dropped its jaw of the richness, crystal clear, undiscovered musical talent they were witnessing.
Susan Boyle brought everyone to their feet and some to actual tears. It was a spectacular moment, when the camera panned to the audience and showed the faces of the crowd with complete shock. Now, Susan has collaborated with Elvis Presley for her upcoming Christmas single; she will be singing alongside the King of Rock and Roll on the track of “Oh Come All Ye Faithful.” All royalties will go to the charity, Save The Children. According to published reports, she’s the first British artist to have a posthumous duet with Elvis Presley and she considers it a career highlight. She was always a fan of Elvis and loved his films. Susan’s fifth album, “Home for Christmas,” will be released on December 8.
December 8 marks the same day that John Lennon was killed 33 years ago. Lennon was shot and killed outside of his New York City apartment while walking with his wife Yoko Ono. They were returning from the recording studio to their home at the Dakota when 25-year-old crazed fan, Mark David Chapman, shot him at close range. In a bizarre twist, Chapman had been hanging around earlier that day with other fans asking Lennon for an autograph. When the group broke up back in 1970, John Lennon focused on his humanitarian and social activism. The 1980 “Double -Fantasy,” album was planned to be his comeback album. Lennon was murdered just weeks after the album was released.
Rose’s Scoop: Lady Gaga took to Twitter to announce the passing of her beloved dog, Alice. On October 29, she posted, “My puppy Alice died. We had to put her down, cancer ate away at a little angel. My daddy is so sad, we all are, lost a member of our family.” Anyone who has lost a dog to the disease knows exactly how she feels. Truly a sad day for the “Applause,” star.
