UNITED STATES—Hey, did you hear that National Cheesecake day is July 30? Yep, its one of the biggest days for cheesecake lovers around the country, and I can’t believe I’m just learning about this festive holiday. Well, I’ll take that back, I was aware of the holiday last year, but by the time I realized what was transpiring it was too late.

So what is it about cheesecake that makes it the perfect treat? Where do we start? Cheesecake is one of those treats that if done to perfection can satisfy a person’s taste buds for days, weeks or months. It’s all about the texture of the cheesecake. It shouldn’t be too rigid or too spongy in my opinion. If you overwork the batter, the texture is not as fulfilling as it could be.

I’ve tried cheesecake from a variety of places, but nothing and I mean nothing compares to The Cheesecake Factory. This place is notorious for its vast varieties of cheesecakes to choose from. From original to key lime, you name it they have it. I’ve made it a mission of mine to try at least a slice of all the varieties of cheesecake they have available. Not to worry, its only one slice per visit, trust me I’m not looking to go into a diabetic coma eating all those sweets, besides, this treat is so decadent, so delicious, it takes me two to three days to finish just one slice.

The company is doing something special to celebrate the holiday. Each cheesecake purchased will be half-off the original price. Trust me that is a solid deal, as a slice of cheesecake goes for about $8-$10 depending on where you live. For someone who has never tasted cheesecake go for the original. Trust me, it’s not made out of sliced cheese, as so many people tend to suspect, its cream cheese that is sweetened with a ton of ingredients. After that experience, you’ll be ready to venture into territories unknown to most.

One of my favorites is the Toasted Marshmallows S’mores Galore that is slice of heaven. It’s a slice of Hershey’s cheesecake topped with chocolate ganache, toasted housemade marshmallow, a Honey Maid graham cracker crust and whipped cream. If you’re a fan of cookies, try the Oreo Dream Extreme Cheesecake that has actual Oreo cookies in the middle of the cheesecake. Yeah, it tastes as good as it sounds.

For an enthusiast who is truly a cheesecake aficionado, try a slice of Chris’ Outrageous Cheesecake that is a mountain of deliciousness. You get chocolate cake, chewy brownie (the best brownie I’ve ever had), toasted coconut pecan frosting and a creamy chocolate chip coconut cheesecake.

If there is one slice of cheesecake that must be tried at The Cheesecake Factory it is the Mango Key Lime Cheesecake. It might be sweeter than what most expect, but the idea of a mango mousse, cheesecake and a vanilla coconut macaroon crust. Decadence is hard to describe this delicious treat, but the company may have outdone themselves with their latest creation, the Lemon Meringue Cheesecake.

This new concoction consists of lemon cream cheesecake swirled with Lemon, topped with layers of lemon mascarpone mousse and housemade meringue on a vanilla crumb crust. My mouth is just watering thinking about it.

So whether cheesecake is your dessert of choice of not, indulge in a slice at The Cheesecake Factory on July 30 and July 31, where any one slice is half-off. It’s a deal that can’t be beat.
