BEVERLY HILLS—Tomorrow is National Pasta day, the one day a year when all Americans are obligated to eat some fine Italian cuisine. Though some may head over to Olive Garden for National Pasta Day specials, there are a couple of local restaurants offering homemade pasta dishes that are worth checking out.

De Pasquale, located on Santa Monica Boulevard, offers several authentic Italian dishes and homemade pastas. The family-owned business states on their website that: “Da Pasquale is perhaps the only local trattoria that, since its inception in 1989, has consistently prepared all of its dishes in the rich southern Italian tradition of Naples without pandering to American taste buds or trends.”

This would be a great place to visit, if you are looking for a traditional and authentic meal. They serve a variety of pastas including: linguini, capellini, ravioli, fettuccine, spaghetti, penne, fregula and lasagna. De Pasquale is open for lunch and dinner hours, with a break in between.

Il Pastaio, located on N. Canon Drive, is another local gem owned by Giacomino Drago, who also owns several other Italian restaurants in the Los Angeles area. Open for 20 years, this Italian restaurant has proven to produce consistent, and sought after fare. If you want to celebrate the holy rigatoni, or if you live a gluten-free or vegan lifestyle but still want to partake in National Pasta Day, Il Pastaio will be open all day and will gladly cater to your dietary needs.

For those who do not wish to dine out but still want some freshly made pasta, there is always the fun option of making your own at home!
