PACIFIC PALISADES—On Monday, September 16, at approximately 3:23 p.m., the Los Angeles Fire Department reported a natural gas leak resulting from a ruptured 3-inch subterranean natural gas pipeline at a construction site on the 17000 block of W. Tramonto Drive.

Officials from the LAFD began working with officials from So Cal Gas to stop the leak. There were no reports of any fires, injuries, or illnesses from the gas leak. The LAFD took additional precautions by moving an estimated 100 people from a nearby apartment complex, as well as sheltering individuals from the nearby school Chabad of Pacific Palisades.

So Cal Gas crews were able to safely and successfully expose and stop the gas leak after working to fix the pipe in 90 minutes. All residents who vacated their home and those who were sheltered by the LAFD were allowed to safely return to their homes or schools after the gas leak was contained.
