HOLLYWOOD—Its seems like eons since we last had a “Godzilla” movie; it was actually 1998 for those who lost count. That picture starred Matthew Broderick and was considered a dismal failure, but worry no more, the creature of the sea is back.
The 2014 reboot of the B-movie amps up the special effects with a trailer that presents quite an ominous tone. The government is asking a group of troops to tackle a formidable task, one that appears to be a complete loss from my perception.
A neat glimpse of the trailer is the point of view shot we get from the soldiers sky diving from the plane and slowly landing to a demolished New York City. A really brief peak of the creature is given to the audience, before a full onslaught of the horror that is experienced is depicted to the audience from a variety of actors including Elizabeth Olson, Bryan Cranston, Ken Watanabe, Juliette Binoche and Aaron Taylor-Johnson.
The trailer does an excellent job of teasing the epic creature, without providing a full-blown glimpse. Eager viewers will have to wait till the movie opens for that surprise. For those wondering the picture is expected to hit theaters in 3D. “Godzilla” arrives in multiplexes on May 16, 2014.
