SANTA MONCIA—The city of Santa Monica Planning Commission has granted Trader Joe’s a license to sell a full-line of alcohol beverages at it’s new location on 23rd Street and Wilshire Boulevard. The grocery store will operate with a Mixed Used Boulevard District (MUB) underneath a 30 unit rental building.

Trader Joe’s will operate with the MUB district with O’Hara PC on conditional alcohol permit (19ENT-0005) for off-site consumption, prohibiting in store tasting activities. The Planning Commission also cited (Type 21) permit which incorporates a wide range of alcohol beverages specialties including beers, wines, and distilled spirits during business hours  between 8:00 a.m. and 10:00 p.m., in conjunction within the MUB district.

The supermarket is located across the street from Whole Foods, and a few miles away from the upscale grocer Erewhon. Santa Monica’s first Trader Joe’s opened in 2001 and is located on Pico near the eastern edge of town.
