WEST HOLLYWOOD—A night club slated to open in West Hollywood in February 2017 is exclusive to “the most beautiful people in the world,” according to owner Greg Hodge.

The club—called Beautiful People—is the real-life extension of Hodge’s dating website BeautifulPeople.com, which is comprised of upwards of 850,000 members, spans throughout 120 countries and like its nightlife counterpart, vets its members to ensure they are “10s.”

“We are very excited about the opening of our flagship bar,” said Hodge. “We will take the same ethos into this project as we did when we launched the dating site. We are simply taking the BeautifulPeople (BP) concept into the real world.”

Those who are already certified BP members will receive priority access into the club; those who are not, will undergo an impromptu “beauty test” at the door – where the club’s “Beauty Police” (comprised of a medley of celebrity trainers, models and Hollywood insiders) will assess whether or not they have looks worthy of admission.

But if you’re not a 10, “rare exceptions will be made on the grounds of wealth,” Hodge said. “Wealth is a strong factor of perceived attractiveness – especially with women,” he told The Sun.

Membership status is obtained upon passing a very selective rating process – applicants submit headshots, body shots and a brief biography, then, existing members vote and present a verdict within the next 48-hours. Since 2001, over 11 million people have been rejected.

Hodge understands the club will “ruffle some feathers” but, “It’s filled with bright intelligent, articulate people, people from all walks of life from dental nurses to models,” he says. “We get backlash it’s discriminatory, but we’re simply owning it.”

“Being ugly is not a protected characteristic,” he said.

The club’s furniture, like its members, is exclusively high end – it’s equipped with bauble-like swing chairs, Swarovski chandeliers, ornate mirrors and curved banquettes. A makeup artist will be on scene to give guests touch-ups—should they need it. Out-of-towners can hitch a lift via a discounted helicopter ride, which lands on a nearby helipad.

The bar will offer a wide variety of liquor, wine and champagne, as well as “beauty cock-tails:” a concoction composed of ingredients like, aloe vera, coconut water, bee pollen and avocado – said to “keep you looking your best.” Members looking to dine can order from the bar’s raw food menu, or order lean meats from the grill.

The cocktail menu was designed by mixologist Leonardo da Silva, who doubles as the club’s operations director and part owner.

“Any decent club operator will tell you that door policy is key,” Silva told The Sun. “Our door policy is no different to that of the VIP rooms of leading night spots in style capitals all around the world.”
