HOLLYWOOD—Officials from the Los Angeles Police Department revealed that at approximately 9:00 a.m. on Monday, October 29, a battery suspect was shot and killed in an officer-involved shooting.

Two LAPD Hollywood officers, one male and one female, responded to a radio call of a suspected battery at the 24 Hour Fitness Gym located in the 6300 block of Sunset Boulevard. Officers were directed to the suspect who was refusing to leave the gym locker room and got into an argument with gym employees. Authorities stated that the suspect was a former gym member and was now believed to have been homeless. An altercation ensured, where the suspect took possession of one of the officer’s TASERs.

The suspect was shot by officers and pronounced dead at the scene. One officer sustained moderate injuries during the altercation and was transported to a local hospital.

The LAPD tweeted “There has been an officer involved shooting within the 6300 block of W Sunset Blvd in @LAPDHollywood . Please stay clear of the area while officers continue there investigation. This is not an active shooter situation.”

Detectives from the LAPD Force Investigation arrived on the scene and are handling the investigation. The name of the victim has not yet been disclosed to the public. There were no reports of any other injuries during the incident.
