BEVERLY HILLS—The annual pie-themed event will be held on June 8 at theBeverly Hills Farmers’ Market.

The city’s Pie Bake A’la Beverly Hills and Piesta are soliciting entries for its home-baked pie contest. While the event is not expected to take place until June, the deadline to apply for the competition is May 25. To be eligible, all entries must be made using locally grown fruit in California. In addition, the pies will be judged by chefs and food-celebrity judges on a number of different criteria, including appearance, creativity, crust, consistency and flavor. Winners will receive gift cards from Clementine Bakery of Beverly Hills. The first place winner will receive a $200 card; second place receives $100; third place will get $50; and the “Most Pie-utiful” entry will also get a $50 gift card.

The event is free for everyone to attend and will include several different pie-themed activities like pie ingredient juggling, pie making and decorating and a pie eating contest. There will also be a petting zoo and pony ride for children at an extra fee.

The Farmers’ Market will still include all regular farmers and prepared food vendors during the Pie Bake & Piesta. The Market is located along Civic Center Drive between Third Street and Santa Monica Boulevard. Complementary two-hour parking will be available the Civic Center’s parking garage while the event takes place between 9:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m.
