WEST HOLLYWOOD―Police at West Hollywood Sheriff’s Station were alerted Friday, July 17 about a suspicious package in the parking lot behind a building on 9026 Sunset Boulevard, between Hammond Street and Doheny Drive.
Around 10:30 a.m., a station attendant noticed a suspicious-looking package and notified the authorities. Although no threat was reported, West Hollywood deputies called in the bomb squad. Police closed down the section of the Sunset Strip to investigate, and the Sheriff’s Station put out a local advisory for drivers in the area to avoid that section of the road.
By 2:00 p.m., the suspicious package had been removed from the scene by a bomb squad robot, and the closed-off section of Sunset Boulevard had been re-opened. The package was found to be harmless.
