SANTA MONICA—On September 2, a shooting occurred on the Santa Monica (10) Freeway, in which a man allegedly shot at another motorist.  Police are currently searching for the shooting suspect.

The incident occurred at approximately 5:30 p.m. on the freeway between Crenshaw Boulevard and La Brea Avenue, according to police. The suspect had been traveling westbound in a white Audi when he and the other man reportedly exited their vehicles, and the gunman allegedly shot twice at the other driver. The suspect then fled the scene carrying the firearm and a briefcase. He left the Audi behind, which police later discovered contained drugs.

Police suspect that the shooting was connected to a drug deal between the individuals. The other man, identified as 33-year-old Mark Anthony Johnson, was arrested on suspicion of assault with a vehicle as a deadly weapon. His bail amount has been set at $32,000.

The gunman in the incident has yet to be identified and apprehended. No further information is available as of press time.
