SANTA MONICA—The Rent Control Agency and Consumer Protection Division of the Santa Monica City Attorney’s Office will host its sixth annual Landlord/Tenant Forum at the Thelma Terry Building at Virginia Avenue Park on Wednesday, December 4 from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. The forum is an ongoing effort by the city to increase public awareness of how local and state laws impact landlords and tenants.

Forum participants will get updates on landlord and tenant rights, responsibilities, hot topics at the local and state level, and information from the City’s Code Enforcement Division. 

The agenda for the forum includes:

  • Santa Monica Rent Control updates
  • New developments in California landlord/tenant law
  • Construction-related tenant harassment
  • Section 8 voucher discrimination
  • Permanent relocation benefits
  • General Q&A
  • Guest speaker from the City’s Code Enforcement Division

All Santa Monica tenants, property owners, property managers, and advocates are invited to attend. Community members are required to register for the forum by Monday, December 2 at smconsumer.org or by calling 310-458-8691.  The city of Santa Monica encourages registration before December 2 due to limited space. 

A continental breakfast will be served. Limited parking is available, but carpooling and alternative transportation are recommended. Sign-in begins at 8:30 a.m.
