WESTWOOD—Several unknown suspects burglarized on-campus housing at Rieber Vista and hours later at Hitch Suites taking several items. The news about the robberies were announced by UCLA Public Information Officer Lt. Scheffler in a press release on Tuesday, October 8.

Suspects entered Rieber Vista around 10:30 a.m and Hitch Suites at 12:10 p.m. stealing property before fleeing the scene. Details on the vehicle or personal identifications are not known. No students were harmed during both robberies.

Lt. Scheffler advised the campus community to dial 9-1-1 for emergencies concerns. Non-emergencies contact UCLA PD 24- hour phone number 310-825-1491, including:

  1. Always be alert and aware of your surroundings
  2. Report any suspicious activity to the police
  3. Do not leave doors to buildings propped open
  4. Secure your residence by locking all windows and doors
  5. Avoid poorly lit or deserted areas when walking at night
  6. Utilize the UCLA Safe Ride Service and UCPD CSO evening escorts

Additional information has not been disclosed to the public at this time about the incidents. Authorities are not sure if both robberies are connected. The crimes are currently under investigation by the UCLA Police Department.
