WEST HOLLYWOOD—Cupid’s Undie Run returns this February to take another stab at ridding children of Neurofibromatosis (NF). According to a press release from the city of West Hollywood, ‘the festivities will start at noon; the run will begin at 2:00 p.m. The route for the run is the perimeter of West Hollywood Park.’ Participants are encouraged to “fundraise their pants off” and to find the “hilarity in charity.”

The city has a history of performing philanthropic activities in fun and light-hearted ways. City of West Hollywood Mayor Pro Tempore, John D’Amico stated in the release, “This event mixes old fashioned fun with right-from-the-heart giving, an excellent combination” I am so happy West Hollywood is able to help make this event a success.” The mile-long run is a world-wide event that takes place in various cities all-over America and parts of Australia.

It was created to fund the Children’s Tumor Foundation’s research to stop NF in its tracks. The Children’s Tumor Foundation defines Neurofibromatosis as a genetic disorder without a cure that destroys the nervous system; causing blindness, deafness, chronic pain and learning disabilities. The Cupid’s Undie Run website explains that NF has few treatments, but through the undie run they plan to make $4 million at this years’ event to add to their $2 million that will go towards NF research.

The run will take place Valentine’s Day weekend on Saturday, February 15 at The Abbey on 692 N. Robertson Boulevard. Those that wish to participate in the run are encouraged to donate at least $50 earning the custom, “I’m with Cupid” underwear, which can only be earned by participating in the run, not purchased online. Other incentives include a VIP status at an open bar on run day if the attendant donates $200 in the Los Angeles run; the pricing for VIP status varies from $150 – $350, depending on what city the event is held. A donation of $500 earns an “I’m with cupid” Terry cloth robe that is “soft as a cherub’s bottom.” A generous donation of $1000 earns a custom Timbuk2 bag which will be shipped after the race.
