SANTA MONICA—Starting April 1 and lasting until Friday, April 22, the Santa Monica Public Library, including all branch libraries will be collecting used prom dresses and tuxedos for the City’s First Prom Dress/Tux Swap.
According to a press release from the city of Santa Monica website, the Swap is an opportunity to exchange last year’s clothing for a trip to the local library. Participants are asked to bring lightly-used prom dresses or tuxedos to receive a coupon. A coupon will be handed out to those who drop of their prom dress or tuxedo.
Those coupons can be redeemed on Saturday, April 30 from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. at Marine Park located at 1406 Marine Park. The Prom Swap is being held as part of the Westside Repair Café. The coupon can be brought to the event to shop for a ‘new’ used dress or tuxedo.
Santa Monica has already received a donation of new and used dresses from Culver Closet. To obtain additional information about the event visit www.smgov.net/r3events or call (310) 458-2223. Questions can also be emailed to Chanel.Kincaid@smgov.net.
