PACIFIC PALISADES—The South Coast Air Coast Quality Management District (SCAQMD) has issued a No Burn order for December 31 from 12:00 a.m. to 12:00am on January 1, 2014.

The No-Burn Order requests that residents with the No Burn Areas refrain from making wood burning fires to keep smog levels down in the areas under the No Burn Alert.

The Alert has been applied to all of Orange County and urban areas of Los Angeles, Riverside and San Bernardino Counties. Areas above a 3,000 elevation are excluded from the No Burn Area.  The Air Quality Management District released a video advocating their cause on December 4 titled “Room to Breathe,” that uses an asthma patient to encourage viewers to find an alternative light/heating source to keep the holiday season festive.
