BEVERLY HILLS—The longtime home of late sketch comic Sid Caesar has sold for $5.5 million—$1.25 million above the asking price.

The house, built in 1962 and located at 1910 Loma Vista Drive, encompasses 4,667 square feet of living space on a three-quarters of an acre lot. It’s designed and furnished in the mid-century modern style, with a large fireplace in the living room and floating shelves above the bar. Other features include a family room, a dining room, and an island kitchen. The home has four bedrooms and five bathrooms, one of which is divided into two separate areas by the central marble tub.

The backyard includes a patio area and a swimming pool, as well as panoramic views of the surrounding canyons.

Caesar, who died in February 2014 at the age of 91, was known as a writer and comedic actor. In addition to playing fan favorites like Coach Calhoun in “Grease” and “Grease 2,” and Melville Crump in “It’s a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World,” he hosted the groundbreaking live television series “Your Show of Shows” in the 1950s. The show was one of the first to incorporate situational comedy (otherwise known as sitcom) into its 90-minute runtime.

The listing agents for the property were Marie Ilous and Sally Forster Jones from the John Aaroe Group. Forster Jones also represented the undisclosed buyer.
