HOLLYWOOD HILLS—Singer Trey Songz, whose real name is Tremaine Neverson was arrested on Monday, March 19 for his alleged role in an assault against a woman at a party during NBA All-Star weekend on the morning of February 17.

Neverson, 33, turned himself into officials at the Los Angeles Police Department Hollywood police station. The singer is being accused of felony domestic violence. The alleged victim, Andrea Buera indicated that Songz repeatedly punched her.

Buera held a press conference with her attorney Lisa Bloom last week where she read a statement about the alleged incident. She noted that she was attending an after party when Songz yelled at her, choked her, punched her and knocked her to the ground, where he continued to attack her until a security guard pulled him off. She noted she utilized an Uber to leave the party, and that Songz threw two of her phones over a cliff.

“I had to go to the hospital because he hit me so hard I had a concussion and I was throwing up from the migraines,” said Buera during the press conference. Buera was visibly upset during the conference shedding tears as she read her statement to reporters. She also lashed out at the bystanders who watched as she was attacked.

“I am so proud and inspired to represent Andrea Buera,” said Bloom during the press conference. Bloom noted her client did everything right by filing a police report with the police and going to the hospital.

This is not the singer’s first run-in with the law. He was arrested in 2016 in Detroit during a concert for aggravated assault, where he assaulted a police officer leading to injury. Video depicted the singer throwing objects during the concert while on stage. He pleaded guilty to the charge and was given 18-months of probation and forced to complete anger management classes and pay restitution for his role in the incident.

TMZ reported that the singer posted a $50,000 bond on Monday and was released from police custody. Songz took to social media to respond to the allegations.

“For weeks my lawyers & Mgmt have asked me not to comment on this and I initially agreed but this morning I feel that my fam, the women that raised me, my friends & fans especially the youth need to hear from me. I am being lied on and falsely accused for someone’s personal gain,” said Songz. He added, “I won’t be speaking too much more on this but would like to thank you for all the prayers and support.”
