SANTA MONICA—Firefighters from the Santa Monica Fire Department rescued a man in his 20s who had fallen from the cliffs near Wilshire and Ocean on Saturday, January 11.

Officials responded at 2:36 a.m. where they discovered the man located 50 feet up on the side of bluff facing Pacific Coast Highway. According to SMFD Captain Eric Himler, the victim suffered a lower leg injury.

Emergency personnel arrived to provide aid to the individual. They airlifted the patient out of the area using rope rescue equipment and an aerial ladder. The patient arrived at Santa Monica’s UCLA hospital in stable condition.

The Santa Monica Police Department was present and directed traffic during the rescue. Himler told Canyon News that traffic was light that evening since the incident transpired early in the morning.
