SANTA MONICA—The Santa Monica Police Department is asking for the public’s help with information regarding a commercial burglary that transpired on December 28, 2017. Canyon News received a press release from Sgt. Rudy Flores noting that detectives are investigating the burglary that transpired at a construction site in the area of the 2300 block of 33rd Street. The suspect was spotted by witnesses leaving the location on foot carrying construction tools.

Authorities describe the suspect as an African-American male, shaved and/or balding head, 25-30-years-old, standing between 5 feet and 11 inches to 6 feet tall. He weighs 190-200 pounds, and was last seen wearing a white T-shirt with grey sweatpants and possibly a hooded sweatshirt. This individual is transient in appearance. Police suspect the individual was loitering and/or casing the area during the New Year’s Eve weekend.

“We do know there has been other activity in the area. This is all the information that we currently have,” said Sgt. Flores in an email to Canyon News.
