BEVERLY HILLS —May madness is not just for sports fans. Hollywood icon and soap star Kate Linder has a busy month still ahead. On Saturday, May 22, at 5:30 p.m. Kate will be honored by the ALS Association, Greater Los Angeles Chapter during the “A Time To Care” Gala Dinner and Concert. Linder, who stars as Esther Valentine on CBS’s number one daytime drama “The Young and the Restless” will be receiving the organization’s Spotlight award for her tireless work in bringing attention to the need for further research for ALS. C. Dean Rasmussen will receive the Lifetime Achievement award, Jim Barber the Iron Horse award and Dr. Clyde Svendsen, Ph.D. the Commitment to a Cure award.

Linder has been the Celebrity Spokesperson for the ALS Association since her brother-in-law, Scott, was diagnosed with the disease five years ago. Each May, Linder flies to Washington D.C. to lobby Congress on their behalf and she’s spoken at numerous national and local events across the country on behalf of the organization, including at many of their Walk to D’Feet ALS fundraisers.

On May 22, “A Time To Care” will be celebrated at the Hyatt Regency Century Plaza in Los Angeles, with an evening honoring individuals who have contributed towards the ALS Association’s Los Angeles Chapter. The mission of improving the quality of life for people with ALS and working to discover a cure is ongoing. There will be a reception, silent and live auction, dinner and a concert. Dwight Yoakum has been added to the performers for the evening. “This is a very important charity and we have lots more work to get done,” Linder tells Canyon News.

Then on Friday, May 28, and Saturday, May 29, you can catch Kate along with fellow actress Peggy McCay, who stars on NBC’s “Days of Our Lives” at the 52nd Annual Garden Grove Strawberry Festival Parade. The Garden Grove Strawberry Festival Association is a non-profit organization which has raised more than $5 million for local charities since its inception in 1958.
