UNITED STATES—June 14, was a day officially made a holiday “Flag Day” in 1946, when Woodrow Wilson was President, though it was celebrated before then dating back to the Civil War. This year, a sponsored protest took place in major cities nationwide. Notices posted on police department webpages notified the public when and where the protests were, and how people could participate.
The protests turned violent with crowds turning on the police, and the crowds. The number of incidents may not all be documented.
There were reports of over 2,000 protests nationwide. On June 16, the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) reported the following:
“On Saturday, June 14th, the Los Angeles Police Department, along with multiple law enforcement partners, responded to protests and criminal activity in the downtown area.
There were 35 arrests for curfew, one for Failure to Disperse, one for Resisting, Obstructing, or Delaying a Police Officer, and one for Resisting Arrest. There were three officers injured. During the crowd control situation, numerous less-lethal munitions were used. Since Saturday, June 7th, LAPD has made 561 arrests related to protest activity. Additionally, 12 officers have been injured during these incidents.”
Arthur Folasa Ah Loo, 39, a fashion designer, husband, and father of two was fatally shot in Salt Lake City, Utah. Reports indicate that the victim was an innocent bystander. He was killed with a rifle. Loo was not the shooter’s intended target. The suspect has been arrested on suspicion of murder charges.
One of the main sponsors of the protests was 50501, a progressive grassroots group, whose members do not respect authority and have a mutual disdain for President Trump and all of his policies. It was reportedly no coincidence that the sponsors chose Flag Day, which is also the 250th Birthday of the U.S. Army and President Trump’s birthday.
The Walmart heiress, Christy Walton also had a lot to do with the anti-Ice and No Kings protests. She took out a full-page ad in the New York Times advertising the protest.
When Sam Walton was alive, he visited the stores in person. He was a patriotic man, who only sold products made in the USA. All of that changed when his heirs took over his dynasty. Walmart was quick to issue a statement notifying the public that Christy Walton was not a member of the board at Walmart, nor does she represent the beliefs of those serving on the board.
President Trump celebrated the 250th Birthday of the U.S. Army with a parade in their honor.
