WEST HOLLYWOOD—Kate Linder has portrayed Esther Valentine on CBS’s number one rated daytime drama “The Young and the Restless” for almost three decades. The beautiful star is well known for her work with the Los Angeles Mission as well as being the national spokesperson for the ALS association. Kate will now be joining friends in the acclaimed play “The Vagina Monologues” along with “Pine-sol lady” Diane Amos and “Little House On The Prairie” star and bestselling author Alison Arngrim. Linder said, “I love how funny Diane is, she’s a great person. And after being friends with Alison all of these many years, this is our first time in a production together.”

“The Vagina Monologues” is an acclaimed production that has brought attention to the plight of women and young girls who are being abused all over the world. “Tommy, I’ve only seen readings; this is the full production, the play version. It’s amazing. They put us all through a seminar teaching us self-defense tactics, and I think it’s very important for women and men as well to start to protect themselves in our society, and it’s a really important issue around the world,” said Kate.

The L.A. production of this play will benefit the organization Peace Over Violence, which is an organization that helps women and girls in the nation of Haiti, who continue to be victimized by an often oppressive system in their country. “It is something we all take for granted, Tommy. However, we have to keep going forward with education to help these women and to help change the next generation. These issues of violence have been going on for years, for generations. We must never give up, Tommy. Like you, like me, we are fighters, that is what it takes to change things. Whether it’s racism or violence of any kind, we must never give up,” said the actress.

There were over 5,400 benefits for women and children around the world last year. “The Vagina Monologues” has grown from a Broadway show to becoming a part of our society. Having strong and successful women like Linder, Arngrim and Amos stand together to fight to make a difference in the issue of domestic violence and violence against women makes a huge impact in our society. Linder stated, “I came into this production later than everyone else. I appreciate my friend Alison [Arngrim] for suggesting me for the role. You know how much I love comedy. I was excited to join the ensemble, then I found out that my role would not be like Alison’s and Diane’s. I am not doing comedy, but this has really helped my growth as a person and a performer playing a role that is nothing like Esther. Tommy, Esther needs to come to see this play.”

Linder was on her way to tape the “Dr. Phil Show” when I met with her on Thursday. “I will be appearing with famed hair and makeup artist Steve Erhardt, who is well known in the entertainment industry for his obsessive plastic surgery as much as his makeup line and for his amazing skills in the art of hair and makeup. I am very worried about Steve, Tommy. He’s very talented, but I am appearing on ”˜Dr. Phil’s Show’ today in order to be part of an intervention. Steve is doing far too much surgery and everyone knows it, even he’s aware of it. I just hope he takes this seriously and stops before he ends up dying,” concluded Linder.

Kate Linder is not just a famous TV star, she’s also a person who is giving of her time and her support whenever a friend or a stranger is in need. Kate stars on CBS’s “Y&R,” which airs weekdays on CBS.
