MELROSE—A crash transpired on Monday, January 28, after the Los Angeles Police Department pursued a suspect in a stolen vehicle. According to reports, the incident transpired at around 7:08 p.m.

The pursuit started on Rampart Boulevard and Third Street in the Westlake neighborhood of Los Angeles. KTLA reported that aerial footage taken of the chase showed a vehicle collide with a median divider which resulted in the SUV catching on fire. The pursuit lasted a little over 10 minutes, ending near the Melrose Avenue exit of the 101 Freeway at 7:20 p.m.

The crash led to the closure of all northbound lanes on the 101. The lanes re-opened after debris from the was cleared from the road.

According to LAPD, a stolen weapon was found inside the vehicle and the suspect was immediately taken into custody by LAPD. The suspect did not sustain any serious injuries as reported by KTLA, and did not need additional medical attention. Authorities have not disclosed the name of the suspect to the public.
