SHERMAN OAKS—Authorities are searching for suspect that ditched a stolen vehicle on at the Sherman Oaks Galleria on Wednesday, September 11.

A report was made about a stolen silver Lexus in the Northridge area. At about 2:30 a.m. officials spotted the stolen car at Roscoe Boulevard and Amestoy Street and attempted to pull the driver over. The driver did not oblige to officers’ request to pull over and continued driving leading to a police chase.

The chase lasted about seven miles and ended at the Sherman Oaks Galleria. The two suspects got out of the vehicle and fled on foot into the parking structure.

Police quarantined the premises around the mall starting at Ventura Boulevard, Sepulveda Boulevard and Camarillo Street.

Once the suspects were surrounded, the Los Angeles Police Department ordered the carjackers to surrender and exit the parking garage. The suspects failed to comply with police orders initiating a K-9 team call. The K-9 team was able to find one of the suspects who was placed under arrest.

The K-9 team was not able to locate the second suspect. Authorities are actively seeking the culprit. Anyone with information is asked to contact the LAPD’s Van Nuys branch at (818) 374-9500.
