BURBANK—A suspicious item prompted a bomb squad investigation and evacuations in a Burbank neighborhood on Wednesday, December 11.
An item that resembled a pipe bomb was reported around 7:30 a.m. in the 200 block of Hollywood Way near Warner Brothers Studios. The item was lying in a grass parkway nestled between multiple apartment buildings. Streets in the surrounding area were shut down for more than two hours during the investigation.
By 11:00 a.m., the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Bomb Squad deemed the item harmless and streets in the area were reopened. Further investigation indicated that the item was a movie prop made of wires, clamps and black pipes. Police are currently investigating the origins of the prop.
There were no reports of any injuries during the incident.
