HOLLYWOOD HILLS—On Wednesday, November 18, at approximately 7:50 a.m., a suspicious package in the 8000 block of Sunset Boulevard led the Los Angeles Police Department to send a bomb squad to inspect the object.

The “suspicious package” was reportedly an unattended backpack that was found in a parking lot as multiple businesses were directed to evacuate.

At around 8:56 a.m., the Los Angeles Police Department sent out a tweet confirming the situation and informed the public that Sunset would be closed between Laurel Canyon and Crescent Heights.

After nearly three hour closure of the area, the LAPD tweeted, “no explosive devices were found, miscellaneous items only, Sunset traffic to open shortly.”

By noon the evacuation was called off and the Sunset area re-opened to traffic and the public.
