HOLLYWOOD—The fact that superstar Don Diamont stars as Bill Spencer on L.A.’s premiere daytime drama “The Bold and the Beautiful” is as natural as nature itself. Don is handsome and beautifully talented. As an admirer of his great work over the years, it seemed like a natural progression that he and one of Hollywood’s most brilliant writers, Bradley P. Bell, would come together to make such a strong impact on the most watched show on the planet. Bradley is so magnificent as a writer, that he has taken home the Emmy award for Best Show in 2009 and 2010, with 2011 almost in the bag for the show as well. However, back to Don, he is as gracious as Clark Gable. On time for his interview on Thursday, the daytime star, who is considered one of the most handsome men in Tinseltown, is even more professional and courteous than anyone I’ve met in years.

“Thank you for feeling that way, I continue to work hopefully because of a certain level of professionalism I have in myself. I take my job very seriously, but I don’t take myself seriously. I feel very honored to be working with such professionals, which not only include my peers but also the producers, writers and our wonderful crew. I love what I do and hope to be doing it a long time,” said Diamont.

In the past two years the progression of Bill Spencer has taken on a few twists and turns. That’s typical for a soap character, and welcomed by an actor who never is lazy in his acting and enjoys being on this show. Of his character Bill Spencer, Don Diamont said, “He’s surely a guy that I love to play. Bill is a strong man, but he does have deep-seeded father issues. Kids always want to please their parents, but that added dimension of his dysfunctional family comes across in who the guy is. I look forward to possibly delving into his issues with his mother as well. You realize when you see a man like Bill, the way he handles Katie and Steffy, the womanizer within him, that there have to be some major mother issues as well. We’ve shown that his relationship with his father at the end of his life was very contentious. Bill wanted to be respected by his father, which is why the one thing he has that his father had was his business acumen. That’s the only part of his father that he allows in himself…Bill is not a deceptive man, but he does have his own moral code, which his wife Katie understands and respects. That’s why their relationship works so well.” Diamont laughed when I suggested his mother is secretly Stephanie. He has great respect for actress Susan Flannery, who portrays Stephanie Forrester.

The actor is humble and very grateful for the fan support he’s received since leaving “The Young and the Restless” and joining its sister soap “B&B.” “I can’t thank fans and the viewers enough,” commented the actor. A man who also prides himself on being the best father to his kids, is now playing a character who is not too happy about finding out he fathered a son over two decades earlier. When asked how he’s able to separate the two different emotions, Diamont smiled, then replied, “I have enjoyed working with the actor who portrays my son Liam. Scott [Clifton] did a wonderful job hitting the ground running in the role. We have different physical features, he’s obviously like his mother, but I like the dynamic and just this week the scene where he slugged Bill was amazing to play. It felt good to watch that scene after filming it and seeing how it all worked out.” It did work perfectly. Between the superb writing and acting, the scene belongs on “B&B’s” 2010 Emmy-reel.

Having numerous primetime television credits, Diamont was most recently seen in the film “Anger Management” with multi-Oscar® winner Jack Nicholson and Adam Sandler. Additionally, he had the lead role, opposite Oscar® winner Jack Palance, in “Marco Polo.” With such grace, he often outshines his costars, not meaning to do so. His imposing good looks makes him every female viewer’s dream guy and every male viewer’s hero.

A New York native, Diamont lives in Los Angeles with his fiancée, Cindy Ambuehl, and their children. When he is not working, he enjoys spending time with his family, cycling and playing basketball. After his niece, Alyssa, was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis (MS), he founded the Don Diamont/Alyssa Mazur Foundation at UCLA’s MS Research and Treatment Center to raise funds for MS research. Diamont was named Ambassador of the Year by the National Multiple Sclerosis Society for his devoted work and efforts to find a cure for this crippling disease.

Next week, the talented actor discusses the reason he is so passionate about other things.
