HOLLYWOOD—Major news was revealed to the movie masses this week with the revelation that Matt Damon and director Paul Greengrass could be returning to the role of Jason Bourne for a new “Bourne” movie. This is news that has been teased in the past, but this week the news seems to be a sign that it could really happen.
Damon and Greengrass last worked together for “The Bourne Ultimatum” which proved the franchise got better with age. Unfortunately, that sentiment could not be echoed for last outing “The Bourne Legacy” starring Jeremy Renner in the role of our hero. While the picture was solid, it faltered on the narrative barrier.
Rather Renner and Damon will appear in the next installment has yet to be announced by Universal. The studio has already green lit the new installment slated for July 16, 2016. I think audiences are gearing for Damon to return as he was sorely missed in the last installment; however, seeing both Damon and Renner in the same flick helmed by Greengrass would be a terrific treat.
