HOLLYWOOD—It’s amazing how just one week in the “Big Brother” house and a power shift changes things so dramatically in this reality competition. Devin held all the cards last week, he was Head of Household, and Power of Veto champion and was still unable to evict the houseguest he initially targeted. So what happened?  He didn’t think strategy. After Zach’s massive blowout, he should have been a goner last week, but Derrick did some master manipulation to rescue his alliance member.

So where do things stand now? Well a new HOH has been crowned in Derrick, the undercover cop who is literally running the game right now, there is just one problem: his alliance with the bomb squad will indeed haunt him. Those houseguests on the outside: Victoria, Jocasta, Brittany, Donny, Hayden and Nicole are all aware that an eight-person alliance was ruling the house. Even though it’s all out in the open, trust was broken for many houseguests, so if any of the people I just listed win HOH it could literally shatter the house which I’m looking forward to.

Derrick carefully structured his plan to backdoor Devin and its working; there is just one minor problem, the house could turn a tide and decide to evict Caleb and not Devin. There are two powerhouse physical threats in the game on the block, who do you take out, the ‘bully’ as everyone is calling him with a target on his back, or his sidekick who is the messenger?

As a houseguest, this is a choice that would have to be carefully examined; it could be tempting to send Devin packing, but more interesting to send Caleb packing also. He made a very risky move by allowing himself to be a pawn for Derrick, which was the HOH’s plan all along. Pawns always go home, and he did it to win the affections of Amber. Caleb is growing on her, but I don’t see a relationship anytime soon.

Devin has made an enemy in all the houseguests, but he did something no one else in the bomb squad did: he came forward with the truth right away. Everyone else is deflecting the alliance, even though Devin has told all to Donny, Brittany and Jocasta. If those three align as I expect them to, expect some fireworks real soon, especially if Brittany or Jocasta gain ultimate power; they think on their own, and are not influenced by others. Donny is definitely a smart cookie, but has raised concerns of many houseguests who consider him dangerous.

I will admit he needs to abandon Team America. Frankie and Derrick don’t have his best interest in hand, and at some point he will have to cut them loose to play his own game, as the others are already doing the same. I will admit Victoria is nearly non-existent on the show, why is she even there? Derrick might be playing the most strategic game, but he’s playing a game similar to Devin’s in my opinion right now.

He’s aligning with way too many people, and is slowly, but surely being seen as a threat. Brittany and Jocasta have him on their radar, and so might Donny.  He is a great puppeteer, but if you pull too many strings you are bound to get cut, as he is realizing in “BB” only an ally can get you to the end; and trusting them is perhaps the most important thing. Is Cody a solid ally yes, but he hasn’t proven to be a formidable force in the game in my opinion.  He’s floating just as much as Victoria is in my opinion.

Without a doubt, it looks like Devin will be exiting the compound come Thursday, which will set-up an interesting HOH challenge where I’m looking for a contestant to finally place Derrick, Cody, Christine, Zach and Frankie in the hot seat. Once a few members in that alliance are on the block, true colors will finally begin to shine for some people in the house.

The one contestant I can’t wait to see win HOH is Brittany; I’d argue Donny, but I have a feeling he’ll be influenced by Team America.

Brittany on the other-hand has a mind of her own, and is waiting to strike at Derrick and the rest for telling bold face lies to her face. She’s really great at reading people and causing paranoia.

I have a feeling that a double eviction will take place after this week, its way too many people in the house, and I’m certain a few more twists are bound to arise throwing everyone’s game off at any given moment. The chaos of “Big Brother” is continuing to cause my allegiance with the characters to shift from week to week. This early in the summer, its anyone’s game in my opinion.
