HOLLYWOOD—I thoroughly and I mean thoroughly enjoyed the first season of the guilty pleasure reality series “The Traitors” on Peacock. I literally binge-watched the first season in a single day because I was hooked. The second season was a mixed bag; sorry I have to admit I did not love it; it didn’t deliver the way the first season did. So, my hopes are very high for season three of the series, which has some notable, I mean notable names.
We’re talking about “Survivor” titans Boston Rob and Tony Vlachos, we have “Big Brother” legends Danielle Reyes and Britney Haynes, we have “Rupaul Drag Race” icon Bob the Drag Queen, and iconic “Real Housewives of New York” alum Dorinda Medley. Oh, there are plenty of others, those are just a few names that instantly popped out for me.
I loved that Tony downplayed his character on “Survivor” which Dylan Efron was well aware of, and Danielle mentioned her fear of having to come face-to-face with Britney, oh the irony people! Both ladies are aware that at some point they will have to turn on the other.
Tony, Jeremy and Carolyn all bonded as “Survivor” players. Yes, the alignment is very real, while Gabby Windey “The Bachelorette” and Nikki Bella both spotted Tom Sandoval and was not pleased. Host Alan Cumming made his epic entrance, where a twist was introduced: another player could join the game, they just had to shake Alan’s hand and that player was Boston Rob. Britney is a confessional queen; she knows how to deliver, but is was Boston Rob’s reveal that left everyone aghast. I would have expected Tony to want to play with Rob to divert the target off of him. Carolyn absolutely considered making the move, but didn’t. No one made the move, wow, I was stunned by that decision. Alan warned them not taking on his offer could possibly have consequences.
Chatter erupted about Sam being Britney’s ex-husband, just as Chanel made it clear she was clueless about the game. Tony made the argument that he wants to be a faithful that Carolyn didn’t trust, as Jeremy and Wells were quiet per usual. Tony wants to be a Traitor, at the same time, the ‘Housewives’ Dorinda and Dolores were bonding. Gabby is a smart cookie, spotting Ivan as a potential threat. However, the fun was about to erupt with the selection of The Traitors by Alan.
Our Traitors are Danielle Reyes, Carolyn Wiger and Bob the Drag Queen. Danielle is about to be wicked; Carolyn is not going to be suspected at all, and Bob, whew, I cannot wait to see what erupts. Tom Sandoval just sit down, you’re not that receptive of a player as you think you are. Alan dropped a twist that if you make it to the finale the Traitors will not be revealed.
Tony realized he had to place targets on people to prevent them from suspecting him. Tom suspected Chriselle, and Chriselle was pointing fingers at Tom. Jeremy, Bob Harper and Bob the Drag Queen didn’t think Carolyn couldn’t be a traitor. Dylan was already stirring the pot letting Chriselle know Tom was after her. Any players inside the shield when it is lit on fire will earn protection from being murdered during The Traitors first ‘murder.’
On the first plank it was not just fuel, and two players had to stay on the raft and would not be protected from being murdered for the night. Tony, Carolyn and Danielle were not sacrificing their game. Robyn sacrificed herself, as well as Ayan. Jeez, with taking the $20k in gold, two more players must sacrifice. Dolores and Dorinda sacrificed themselves this time. All the ‘Housewives’ are sacrificing themselves. Yes, Dolores you figured it out, you are being considered a target!
With more fuel, two more players have to get off the boat. Bob sacrificed himself pointing that all the women cannot be sacrificed. Danielle cried as she got on the raft with Bob, two Traitors sitting next to each other and they don’t even know it. Well, that point was so potent. With more fuel, two more players had to be sacrificed with Sam and Bob H sitting out. No one was willing to volunteer for the remaining $20k, which annoyed a lot of the women.
Yeah, I don’t like that so many of these players are safe at the first murder, it should have been almost everyone in danger not more than half of the players safe, and only a select few in danger. Alan read the riot out to those who got safety. As the rafters returned, it was time for mayhem, and Bob was not a happy camper. I love Bob the Drag Queen; he is TV gold. Danielle was hot as well, and it was good that she was so angry because people were putty in her hands.
Dorinda was giving; and I loved every minute of it, maybe this twist created the drama I didn’t expect. The final moment of seeing the Traitors come together was fantastic TV. Bob and Danielle are going to be fantastic. Carolyn and Danielle are going to butt heads in major fashion. I have to admit that Carolyn was epic with that move to kill off Robyn because they could frame Dorinda for it. Or take out Dolores because she would be a massive threat to them at the Roundtable.
The first episode ended with an epic twist, Boston Rob was chosen by Alan to become a fourth Traitor in the game, but the other Traitors won’t know it until later, and we have more players joining the game, and it was Derrick Levasseur from “Big Brother 16” and Wes Bergmann from “The Challenge.”
OMG this is good. Rob had it right, he had to align with Wes and Derrick to save himself. I don’t want to spoil much because season three has me HOOKED IN THE WORST WAY POSSIBLE! New episodes of “The Traitors” airs Thursdays at 9 p.m. EST on Peacock.
