HOLLYWOOD—Well, it was bound to happen at some point America. Yup, “Aquaman” has finally been dethroned from the top spot at the box-office, and by a movie that I didn’t think had strong legs to begin with. The dramedy, “The Upside” starring Kevin Hart, Nicole Kidman and Bryan Cranston came out on top with $19.6 million. Not bad for a film that is a remake of a French classic. The film should enjoy its time on top because it will be short-lived, more on that later.

Dropping to second place was “Aquaman” with $17.3 million. After close to a month in theaters, the DC Comic book adventure is likely to cross the $300 million mark at the domestic box-office by the end of the week. On a global scale, the film has already crossed the $1 billion mark. Not bad, and it might be on of DC Comics best flicks since “Wonder Woman.”

Landing in third place was the film good pet drama “A Dog’s Home” with $11.3 million, while “Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse” took fourth place with $9 million. The animated adventure is certain to reach the $150 million mark at the domestic box-office by Monday or Tuesday of this week.

Rounding out the top five was the thriller “Escape Room’ with $8.9 million. We already know the highly anticipated thriller “Glass” will claim the top spot next weekend for moviegoers, the question we all want to know is how big of an opening will the flick starring Bruce Willis, Samuel L. Jackson and James McAvoy will have.
