PACIFIC PALISADES—According to reports, Academy Award-winner Tom Hanks and his wife, actress and singer Rita Wilson have sold a pair of Pacific Palisades homes to a single buyer for $17.5 million.

According to Variety, the properties were originally listed for a combined $18 million in 2016. The side-by-side homes are located in the Riviera neighborhood of Pacific Palisades. The smaller, 3,930-square-foot property was sold for $7,342,500, under its asking price of $8.75 million. The larger, 7,260-square-foot, three-story mansion was sold for $10.1 million, above the $9.25 million asking price.

Built in 1933, the smaller Spanish-style estate has 4 bedrooms, 3.5 bathrooms, a step-down living room with fireplace, a remodeled kitchen, beamed ceilings, and ironwork, according to the real estate website. The larger, English-style 1957 home has 7 bedrooms, 6.5 bathrooms, a formal dining room, a billiard room with wet bar, and an entertainment room. The country-style kitchen has a center island, and a gallery leads to private gardens.

The properties are situated on over 1 acre, with canyon and mountain views. They were represented by David Offer of Berkshire Hathaway Home Services in Los Angeles.

Hanks and Wilson were reported to have purchased the two homes in 2003 and 2007 for a combined $13.1 million. They own a third home adjacent to the sold properties. In 2010, the couple acquired a 14,500-square-foot property in the area for $26 million from producers Kathleen Kennedy and Frank Marshall. In 2013, they sold another Pacific Palisades estate, a Spanish-style home built in 1929, which had an asking price of $5.225 million.

Hanks has had notable roles in films that include “Big” (1984), “Forrest Gump” (1994), “The Da Vinci Code” (2006), and the “Toy Story” series. He recently, he took on the titular role in the movie “Captain Phillips” and starred as Eamon Bailey in “The Circle,” alongside Emma Watson. Wilson has worked on the films “My Big Fat Greek Wedding” (2002), “My Big Fat Greek Life” (2003), and “My Big Fat Greek Wedding 2” (2016) as a co-producer. She has appeared in the TV series “M*A*S*H,” “The Good Wife,” and “Girls.”
